Gyu-Kaku

Gyu-Kaku is a great place for groups to enjoy fresh eats! My family loves coming here because of the good food and good table service. They also have an awesome incentive program where you can collect points for your meal. Unfortunately, the points do expire so collect as many as you can and use them quickly! It's also a good idea to make reservations because the wait can be long if you simply walk in. And although, you've made a reservation, they won't seat you until your entire party is present as they want to turn over tables as fast as they can. This place is also clean and has good ventilation so you don't smell smokey after your meal.

Maybe next time not waiting for nothing? Good food though.

Went here many times, I love Japanese bbq. But, when too many people dining here, the air will be too smoky, and some times pork belly is fat and tender that’s good but sometimes it’s very chewy a bad cut. So it depends on the luck. If unfortunately you’ll get some very chewy pork belly thin and chewy that can just spit out. Anyway if lucky, that still be a fine choice. Recommend pork jaw.

Food is great, and the lunch specials are really good value. But... the service needs some organization. Specifically, they don't appear to know how to fill the restaurant. Several times now have shown up to an empty restaurant, to be told that it will be a 20 minute wait. The reception area is constantly jammed full of confused customers, scratching their heads over the empty tables that everyone can see. It also takes confusingly long to get your food, even though they're not even cooking it for you. Good meal, but be prepared for the annoyances.

Sohail is the best waiter because he helped us whenever we needed help.Great customer service,was very welcoming and grateful we had a experience.Not only Sohail but all staff kind and welcoming.The food was excellent and flavorful. this was the best experience with service in a restaurant I've ever had. highly recommended.

The service was exceptional! Wonderful food and atmosphere as well, but it is a little warm inside the restaurant. Be ready to wait a while if you're going for dinner.

Called in this morning to make a reservation for 7 people at 7pm, they instead told me to just walk in 30 mins before just to leave my phone number. Which I did , then guess what , they told me it's gonna be at least an hour wait at 6:30. Nuff said.

We went here for the lunch happy hour and it was good. It was about $25 per person and we were more than full. The waiter understood to split the dishes into two so we could cook on two separate grills which was nice! Always a favourite coming here, and be sure to try the Sukiyaki Beef Bimbimbap!

Price is firm and food is great. I will recommend for two or more person eat together. The menu is most valuable with big group rather than alone.

Pretty good place during the happy hours, food is tasty and service is good. It gets pretty busy here during dinner time and it has lots of different menu items, I would recommend the yam fries and calamari!

Love this place! The service is impeccable, we went over the weekend (we are a high maintenance group) and the server Enrico (give this man a raise) was so patient with us and did a fantastic job making sure we had everything we wanted. Food is fantastic, fresh, delicious and great portions. Happy hour is 12-6 i believe and its relativity cheap for the experience.

Great selection of food at a decent price! Make sure you go during happy hour for half price on most orders. Also having the app is a must if you are going to eat here often so that you can earn points on your orders and redeem them later on for rewards!

Really nice and worth place to eat BBQ. All the meat specially their beef. I would recommend go there for their lunch menu, which is cheap and good! And also can download their APP for rewards that can help you save more money.

Great Japanese bbq place to eat and talk with friends. It is not the place if you’re looking for a very traditional Japanese bbq feel. The meats were all great cuts, but did take a while to cook. It’s very inclusive for all palates.

The lunch special here is well worth the price.I went with two very hungry coworkers and we left satisfied.The lunch special features your choice of 3 meats, a salad with a peanut dressing and soup.It was a great experience, service and hosting was quick and on the ball.Environment is fast paced.This is a self cook service, so come prepared to do so!

It's a decent value (for the set menus) when you consider the variety of food stuff you get. Its a nice alternative to similar food such as Korean bbq. Its a nice surprise and I recommend you come here with a group of friends.

Ordered the Ninja and it was certainly enough food for 3 people. The staff was very attentive and it was a nice atmosphere. Would highly recommend!

The food is really good but service it a bit slow. We waited for 2 of the orders for more than 2 hr, and already asked for it 3 times. The management and efficiency could be better. Anyway I would strong recommend this restaurant if u r a BBQ lover.

Great food and friendly staffs. Price is reasonable for lunch set (weekdays only). I hate their sauce bottles as they always leak and become sticky.

Not that great of an experience. I was told to wait an hour and a half for a table of 10. After 40 minutes, I asked for an estimated time. The female host said we had to wait another hour and a half. We were told to wait 90 minutes, and after 40 minutes we had to wait another 90 minutes. The host said she originally told us two hours but then changed what she said to two and a half hours. There was miscommunications and time wasted. We had the “best” experience at this restaurant. Not coming back for sure!

Cheap, fun, good-looking, tasty. You can't go wrong with this place as long as you don't come during a busy hour (we came without a reservation around 1:50pm and were seated instantly, for the happy hour at 2, the wife was happy). Will return with the family next time.

It would've been nice to know that you only have 2hr time limit. Nothing was posted and even as our waiter came back to take another order the manager reached around him and handed us the bill and said we'd been there too long. When you spend over $150 on food and drinks and told to leave due to the time limit, just poor. Never going back and have told other friends and coworkers in the area and they said they will stop going there as well. When they asked us to leave, we felt like we did something wrong. We were just catching up and talking. 1 male and 2 females, and none of us have ever experienced this ever and we've asked around and no one had ever heard of that. Absolutely atrocious.

Love coming here even though the wait time is long for walk ins. It's better if you get a reservation for bigger groups. The food is amazing and the staff are very friendly! Make sure you try it at least once in your lifetime. They have a good points system to make you keep coming back because you can get $25 off when you collect enough.

We went during Super Happy Hour and it was extremely affordable! Service was awesome too, the staff were very friendly and patient. Food was great and the teriyaki sauce was so good!

Extremely disappointed with the takeout order during this pandemic. Not only did the staff did not provide cutlery and a side of ponzu sauce as I requested, but the BBQ meat was overcooked/burnt while the rice was undercooked/hard. Gyukaku should volunteer to be on the list of restaurants under temporary closure.

Generally a fan of Gyu-Kaku but not this particular location. Terrible wait times, chaotic, and the food just doesn't taste as good as the Vancouver locations. Poorer meat quality in terms of freshness, perhaps?

Disappointing experience..even when meat are mostly marinated, some of them tasted “unfresh” my son ordered the pork belly and it came in small bits and pieces, can’t find one that is in one piece..the only best choice ordered is the beef tongue sampler. Overall experience was a disappointment, first and last visit..

So amazing. I am not used to this type of bbq style food. It's a must try. Go early, go any time and you will still have to wait. Always busy. Because of how good it is

New favourite Japanese BBQ! If you make a reservation they won’t sit you until your whole party is there. They have great quality meat and we were raving about it the whole time. They have great Beer on hand and they accept cash and card. Will be back soon!

It's okay, the value is decent. Meat isn't great at all with the exception of the harami meat. That's the only cut worth paying for. Atmosphere is nice and good for big groups. However, service can sometimes be a bit slow due to how busy they are. You can expect to wait up to an hour with no reservation during meal times.

Took my wife for her birthday. Not our first time. The food is so tasty whether it's lightly seasoned or marinated. Just an epic place for food. Also a great rewards program if you're looking for a regular spot.

The beef is not as good as I imagined.. my friends kept saying this is super delicious ,I’m just disappointed. Every slice is very thin and some kind of beef tastes so bad...not really worth the hype

My favourite place to go with friends. I've gone maybe 5 times already in the span of 6 months. Lunch and happy hour provide reasonably priced deals. The meats are always flavorful. Customer service has been alright. Nothing to complain about.

We have been to the Vancouver branch before and we found that the Richmond one taste not as good as the Vancouver Branch. For example, the fried chicken Karaage is very soggy. Also, after we are seated, We found someone else garbage on our table. Moreover, we ordered the Samurai set meal which included the Harami in secret pot however they did not notify me they ran out of it when we ordered the set...which is a little bit disappointing since we all looking forward for it...

Miss this place during Covid Pandemic. Every time we go and every thing we try is good. Beer, Bbq, meats, soups, etc. Reasonable prices for the quality and service and reward points is a bonus!

Wagyu beef is on point! Kobe is good too but you can't ever go wrong with the quality of A5 wagyu. The service at the Richmond location is always friendly and memorable! Food is prompt and the atmosphere is lovely.
